    Airin district in Nishinari Ward, Osaka, now has an abundence of budget accommodation establishments for international travelers with prices on par with backpacker lodges in South East Asia, which offer clean rooms and showers/baths. The area is also home of Japan's largest slum.

    Famous for it's drifting population of Burakumin (low class labourers), and long time area of cheap overnight beds for gypsy lifestyle living Burakumin, many of the dormitories now cater for, and are popular with backpackers wanting to see a bit of the 'other side' of Japan - and beds are cheap! Definitely an interesting area, with lots of cheaps eats, and full of colourful characters.
